Distributing Customer Loyalty Coupons Via Twitter

2womensmartphoneI love barbecue. I love it so much I have a personal website dedicated to finding barbecue restaurants and barbecue events around the country. Over the past couple of months I have seen an increading trend where bbq restaurants send out a daily tweet with the special of the day or a discount coupon not available anywhere else.  This is a smart use of Twitter and definitely pays off.  Just look a Dell with their 3 million dollar sales boost from Twitter based coupons.

I wonder what kind of response someplace like Best Buy would get if they offered some special award as an incentive to get customers in the door. Wouldn’t it be great to receive a Twitter message saying if  you show up at the computer section of the store in the next 60 minutes you would receive a free 27 inch flat screen monitor.  I am sure this would provide the store with an huge increase of Twitter followers. Anytime you offer an incentive to follow that is actually worth something you can benefit.

Using Twitter and other social networks as an outlet for coupon distribution is a smart idea. Just be sure to keep your offerings a good quality offering. No one likes to join something and then get junk.
